Technology Integration Example (Coaches ) Hudl is a digital film platform that coaches can upload film to. Once film is uploaded to Hudl, coaches can edit individual film clips by adding notes, annotations or drawings. Edited clips can then be shared with athletes so that the athletes can watch the film clips with the directed instruction provided by their coach. Our coaches film and upload every practice into Hudl. Once the film is uploaded, I watch and make notes on clips with coaching points. I also use annotations to emphasize my coaching points. I then share the clips with my athletes so that they have specific coaching points to watch for and improve upon.  Technology Integration Example (Athletes) R4 Quarterback School with the REPS Training Program is a virtual reality-based training program that allows quarterbacks and wide receivers to practice seeing different defensive alignments and coverages without the need for anyone else participating and only the need for a virtu...

Looking Back

Looking Back Joey Browning Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education, Valdosta State University KSPE 8900: Professional Seminar of Coaching Pedagogy Dr. Matthew Grant September 22, 2024 Looking Back Upon entering the Coaching Pedagogy Specialist Program at Valdosta State University, I had 3 goals. My first goal was to better learn contemporary approaches to coaching. My second goal was to learn how to better influence the student-athletes that I coach by how I coach. My third goal was to learn how to better build trust among the student-athletes that I coach. Largely, my goals have remained the same throughout my experience in the program. Throughout each course within the program I have been able to perform tasks, read sources, and discuss with classmates on topics relevant to my original goals. Learning more contemporary approaches to coaching was a main goal of mine entering the program. From my own previous coaching experience, I had observed that my co...

Sarkar (2022) provides evidence as to how instilling effort builds team resilience and leads to the development of...

Valdosta 9/8/2024 Joey Browning Discovering my frame as a coach and educator dates back to my very own beginnings. I grew up in a rural, northwest Georgia community. The culture that I grew up with in that community shaped my frame with sports from the very beginning. My background growing up is filled with sports. As a result of being involved in sports, my culture has been shaped by sports. Sports experiences have filled my life, consistently adding vivid context to periods of my life that would otherwise be afterthoughts. As my coaching career has taken shape, the context added for my sporti...

About Me

About Me      I am 36 years old. I was born and raised in Lyerly, GA in Chattooga County. I attended Chattooga County Schools until 11th grade and I graduated from Cedar Bluff High School (AL) in 2006. Hunting, fishing, cooking, and traveling are my favorite hobbies. My wife, Courtney, and I have been married for 7 years. We have 3 wonderful children. Eleanor is 6 years old, Addison is 3 years old, and Weldon is 4 months old. We live in Lafayette, GA and I work at Trion High School in Trion, GA.     My journey as a professional teacher and coach started in my early twenties. I had attended college, sporadically, since I graduated high school and had never decided what profession I wanted to pursue, until I turned 24. That year, I decided to aim for an Associates Degree in History that would open the door for me to enroll in an Education program at a university. The University of North Georgia in Dahlonega was my next stop, where I soon befriended several Lumpkin...
